Broom making, Turkey Wing

  • Duomo Gardens West Mountain View Drive San Diego, CA, 92116 United States (map)

It’s time to sweep it up and cleanse it down and get grounded.

Besom making is more than just creating a household tool; it is an art form that embodies cultural heritage, creativity, and functionality. The dedication of broom makers to their craft ensures that this ancient tradition remains alive and cherished in the modern world.

Come and join us for the  grounding, creative, and expressive craft of broom making.
We’ll be leaning into the ritual of cleansing spaces. Together we will get a better sense of what brooms are good for….in both the logical and practical side of the craft, as well as how to use the broom for spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

This class will be an introduction to besom culture. We’ll make a simple turkey tail broom that can be completed in one sitting, about an hour of time. Our offering can also be extended to more time if necessary and time allows. Please arrive early to get prepped and situated.

The workshop does require moderate hand strength and coordination. We recommend that broom makers be 15 +. However, younger kids could engage on a more decorative and ceremonial level.

Cleaning and sweeping can and should be a family affair/ritual.
